winter deer
I hunt 80 acres. Say 60 of that alfalfa not never got cut. In Oct I seen few nice bucks i went rife hunting i see deer every night all does where are the bucks.
Now where in dec muzzleloader season all I am seeing are does no bucks anyone know why? Are they not interested in alfalfa in winter? Are they on winter patterns yet? I am in Mn

You can bet your booty that if there's alfalfa there that the bucks are eating it as their main source of food until it's no longer available. However, if it's readily available like you mentioned and it's fairly close to their bedding areas they probably aren't hitting it during legal hunting hours. The deer up at my place in northern Michigan also went completely nocturnal just about the middle of November when our rifle season opened and it was exasperating to see so many tracks in the fresh snow every day that were made at night and they were back in their bedding areas before daylight. It was probably as bad as I've seen it in all the years since I bought the place in 1973 knowing they were there and not being able to see but 3 in six full days. I finally came home a week early when the weather forecast got worse and will hunt down here during the 3 week ML season that starts on Friday.
