Default Calling This Early?

Would you try any calling this early in the season? Would rattling or a grunt intimidate potential deer from coming in or just plain sound unnatural with the rut still a little ways off. If there are some light calling techniques that can be used this early, what would they be? A doe bleat maybe? I’ll be hunting in NE Pennsylvania. Thanks.

Barnes in my book the doe bleat is the only call I will use 90% of the time, during the rut I will on occasion use a tending grunt mixed in with a doe bleat. Think about it, when you were a teenager would you rather meet a young willing lady [8D]or go fight some big dude?[]

When I was a teenager I' d probably want to fight the big dude AND have the willing young lady. No I' m older and smarter and I' ll avoid the big dude, thank you. We' ll be sticking with the doe bleats tomorrow. Good analogy.

i went out last night on some state land in michigan, and about 1/2 hour before dark i started using that Primos Can call, its like a estrus bleat or something like that, i called in 2-3 does and a buck, never got to see the buck but my buddy who sat about 75 yds south of me seen it, was heading right for me he said, other then that i used doe/young buck grunts

I have a buck and a doe tag so calling in a doe would be good, too. I only have 2 Saturdays to hunt at our camp this year due to a baby being due on November 30 so I' m not going to be picky tomorrow. I have to christen that new smoker I got at Cabelas with something other than salmon, bluefish or bonitos.
