I've been using my Marlin 336C .35 Remington for 26 years. I love the way it feels. Killed several with it. Took a monster 11 pointer with it a few years ago. I hit it with the first shot, but made like the Rifleman and hit it two more times as it ran across the field. I think the first shot was fatal, but the lever action allowed me to get off two more good shots that ensured the harvest. My son is old enough to hunt next year, so I've bought a new rifle (Savage 300 WSM bolt-action), and I'll let him use my lever action . I may live to regret it - not loaning my kid my 336, but buying a bolt-action instead of another 336.

I grew up with lever's starting in the 40"s then went through a phase with every other action type. Their isn't anything better than the slick feel of a lever gun. and they are more accurate than people give them credit for. I now have 4 lever guns 3 BLR 81"s and an 88 Win. I would like to trade one of the Browning 81's in .358 win for a BLR81 in .284 cal. if any one is interested. How much game I've shot with a lever gun is difficult to comput but I have shot over 25 bears with the .358"s

I packed a Win. 30-30 for several years as an elk hunting guide and cowboy(before I was married) Now I have a real job but still pack the gun in my pickup for daily use. It is easy to carry and works well at a reasonable range.
Death toll:
elk 5
mule deer 15 +
bear 1
mountain lion 1
bocat 3
Coyotes & misc LOTS
Its a good gun in capable hands.
