I feel like my comments towards one person are being broadened to everybody. I don't mind you guys telling this guy its wrong. I don't feel like a certain poster handles it the right way at all. If your going to take on the role of veteran and responsible Stewards go ahead but that doesn't include childish internet name calling pissing matches 10 minutes later. Tell the guy what he did wrong and the teach him how to do it right and do it like a leader should. Certain subjects get old school hunters very passionate. For good reason. It's not always easy to control when you believe strongly something is right or wrong. I will always strive to be someone young and old can look to for answers. I thank you for the opportunity to join in this conversation that my words may help someone else. |

As I stated a few times I don't think YOU were really out of line. A little harsh for my taste but at least fair and conducted like an adult. I disagree with you on a couple things but that is no big deal to me |

It could be fighting since deer break antlers. It could be genetics, remember a buck only supplies half the genes, people forget the doe plays a role too. It could be a mineral deficiency. Heck, there are lots of things it could be. Can't really say with the info you have provided. What is the average sized buck for that area? Do other deer taken by other people exhibit the same thing? Is there anything different about where you hunt and the rest of the county? Is the available feed different this year than it was last year? There are a lot of variables to factor in. How old were the deer? Deer that are in the old age phase of life can no longer grow big antlers and it isn't unusual for them to revert back to small racks and even spikes. |

Skinnner---I'm not going to leave and I know you aren't either. They can call me anything they want, but it's incredible that this thread uncovered what was one, if not two or three major game law violations, since the OP will not comment on what tags he had. Now coming on again calling me ignorant and then with another ridiculous post where he is more concerned why those antlers are that way instead of clearing the air on what is being discussed. The only conclusion that most should come up with is that by not answering questions about the tags is because he violated more laws than just not knowing the 3" buck rule!! A simple sentence or two on what tags he had and how they were used would have been very simple to clear the air and allow us to get back to the antler question, don't you think? The issues and violations discussed here are severe enough that the OP could lose his hunting rights in MO if he got caught and since MO is a Wildlife Compact Violator participant, that would mean he could lose his hunting rights in 40 participating states for whatever length of time the Judge sentenced him to in MO. I'd call that pretty serious for not knowing the law or possibly just disregarding it like may have been the case. Yet some on here appear to just think it should be brushed aside like it happens to everybody, so big deal. Amazing that you and I are being called aholes here for calling the guy out regarding major violations of the law, which hurts all of us and hunting in general and all they're worried about is that we might have offended the OP to the point that he might not come back!!! Maybe some of these guys condoning that kind of crappola and other things that are less than kosher on other threads are the reason why they claim the site is declining! PS: I told you my pointer has a higher IQ than the new guy from my home state making all his brilliant posts and that last one sure proved it!

Ive shown you the definition of the word mistake a couple times. It means doing something wrong. Maybe the word accident is what your thinking here which would change the whole conversation. He said "I made a mistake"........which means "I did something wrong" Had he said "it was an accident" then I would understand what your saying. It was in fact a mistake. Sorry to bring it back up but hopefully it will prevent any future misunderstandings. |

It was a mistake that he shot a buck thinking it was a doe.him not tagging it as a buck is not a mistake it was his lack of knowledge knowing that it should have been taged as a buck when all he really had to do was fully understand the regulations which was his duty
|
If thats not good enough for you then go ask ted nuggent.he learned the difference the hard way

Again I think your confusing the word mistake with the word Accident. It was an accident that he shot the buck thinking it was a doe....not knowing the law was a mistake. Neither one matter in court. this sentence "In they eyes of the courts ignorance of the law is not considered a mistake." Means exactly the same thing as this sentence "In they eyes of the courts ignorance of the law is not considered wrong". |

I know its seems like a silly thing to argue about but it is the root of a misunderstanding. This is why I couldn't understand why you were waiting for him to say he was wrong when he had said he made a mistake from the get go. The word mistake was never meant to be an excuse. "I made a mistake" simply means "I did wrong" Your interpreting the word mistake to be an excuse and that is not the case. |

I don't think that came out quite like he meant it to but its there so like I said I get it. I would probably be right there with you on that had it not been a response to a poster I think is way out of line. Notice the OP has been fairly reasonable with you and everybody other than one poster about the criticism. You approached it like an adult and he has now responded to your criticism like an adult. |

Ya don't CYA yourself, or cover illegal activity for someone else as a "fellow hunter". Not sure if that was what the OP was implying, but it could certainly be construed that way. |

To the OP---Hope you have learned that one error by mistagging that first buck actually caused you to be in violation of taking two bucks, which is not allowed unless you're in a managed area. I now see that, due to some computer problems I'm having with this dang website again, that I missed a post of yours stating that you had a buck permit that allows the taking of a doe, so it's actually an "either sex" permit, and that's why you shot it. Therefore, I'm a little more understanding of your first "mistake" not seeing the spike, but not that you didn't know your own state's hunting laws. I'll forgive you, LOL, if you'll forgive me for the tone I had. It's just that I've hunted for 60 years and don't want to see anything, regardless of whether it's a mistake or intentional, take our sport down because we're having a hard enough time as it is with the antis, huggers, etc. Happy Holidays to you and all the other members and I apologize for coming down so hard, but if it made you think about the ramifications of your actions, then it may have been worth it!

What a joke. Did you "man up" and turn yourself in when you broke the law? For those who wonder why TOPGUN is constantly arguing with people and causing problems in this forum, here is the answer for you... On December 24th, 2013 (Christmas Eve Day) 6:28am 9:22am 9:33am 9:58am 10:10am 11:47am 11:59am 3:10pm 3:18pm 7:00pm 7:13pm 7:21pm 8:40pm 8:55pm 9:08pm On December 25th 2013 (Christmas Day) 7:21am 7:40am 8:26am 8:50am 8:53am 9:30am 9:45am 10:22am 12:14pm 12:56pm 1:09pm 3:02pm 3:53pm 4:08pm 4:19pm 5:08pm 5:27pm 5:30pm 5:47pm 5:59pm 7:30pm 8:34pm WTF????????????? These are the posting times for user name TOPGUN 3006. I have to say that I was not surprised when I saw this.. I pity anyone who is so lonely on Christmas day they need to turn to an internet forum and create conflict by harassing others for entertainment. Seems like someone has alienated so many people in his life that arguing and insulting folks he's never even met is all he has left.. I actually feel sympathy for you. Everyone should have someone to love them for the holidays. For the record, I posted a thread about a strange gooey substance I found in a deer while I was processing it. TOPGUN attempted to turn the thread into a fighting argument. For the life of me, I could not understand why such an innocent question about something so UNcontroversial could set him off.. Now I know... For those who tend to group around this guy in his defense, I suggest you reconsider what you are defending. People are not perfect TOPGUN, and while I realize your career in law enforcement has probably turned you sour, it is no excuse for your behavior. I only ask that you please refrain from participating in any thread that I post. Thank you, The reason is unfortunately I am a smoker and don't smoke around my kid so I only smoke in my office. I made a new rule at our house that we were not going to run all over to several Christmas dinners. On Christmas day We stay home all day together(Wife,Daughter, and I) and we spend no money what so ever because we do not support making people work on Christmas. My posts on Christmas are me having a smoke. Putting together toys all day = lots of smoke breaks |
For those who wonder why TOPGUN is constantly arguing with people and causing problems in this forum, here is the answer for you... I mentioned in another thread that I've been communicating with Top since April 2008, back in some better days at the NAHC site. In 5 1/2+ years we have disagreed on things many times... Not once can I remember a negative, or disrespectful exchange between us... Not once!!! It's not because Top, and I are perfect, it's because we've always been respectful to each other. I'll not try and tell anyone that Top isn't very controversial on certain subjects... But like I said, "it takes two to argue"... As yer pointing yer finger at Top, ya may want too look in the mirror as well :confused0024: |
Thanks Donny! A few things set me off and this was one of them when it comes to dealing with game laws. I just shook my head when I read all that BS that Murby posted! For one thing, the times I started posting are not Eastern times and I don't get up before the rooster crows to make posts, LOL! Also, if he actually read all those posts he'd see he was wrong because most were either offering requested information, congratulating people for animals they took, etc. like 99% of my posts. It's too bad he made a bunch of incorrect posts that he was corrected on by myself and Flags, along with several others in his first couple months on the site. Instead of learning and getting along, he's now looking for a fight every time we post and is telling people what to post and not post. He can either get along or be a pain to others because I won't be paying any attention to what he posts from now on.

Mine has worked okay Top. It's a lot easier on desktop vs my iphone though. Do they have an app for this forum? If so, my phone didn't ask me to download it like it usually does.

Top, I've been using my iPhone since my screen went out on my laptop. It's a real pain, I constantly have to sign back on. App is short for application. It is a downloadable program for your device. It typically makes it easier to navigate and use. Someone or maybe a moderator has gotta know on this site.

Good luck, as I haven't a clue, LOL!

The point of showing your posting times on the 24th and 25th was to demonstrate that you have NOTHING BETTER TO DO than to hang out on this forum on the two days most people spend with their family.. People who have alienated everyone in their life tend to turn their anger to others.... What kind of person checks and posts in an internet forum every one or two hours?? And the funniest part? You didn't even pick up on the fact that I was trying to point that out... ROFLMAO... Ok, TOPGUN,, this forum is not the center of my life like it is for you.. I have more important things to do in my life than to argue with someone I could care less about.. I hope you had a Merry Christmas.. but judging from the way you hung out here all day and argued with everyone, I seriously doubt you did... And I pity you for that.. Hope you have a better New Year... |

Well folks, with that post of his he WILL go on ignore, since I hadn't so far because I was hoping he learned something from what every one else has been telling him---NOT! Yea, I got the drift of things and you obviously didn't comprehend what I or Rockport posted in response. It's obvious that you hold a grudge against Flags and myself and will not let it go just like he stated in one of his posts. My entertainment and how I spend my time is none of your dang business! Furthermore, if you took all the time needed to log all my posts and continue trying to prove something that doesn't exist about me with these lengthy ATTACKS, and that is exactly what they are, then it's you that has way too much free time buddy!!! As one member suggested several days ago after reading all your incorrect stuff that you have posted in a mere two months on this site, you should go read up on things so you could add some positive comments to the Forums instead of picking fights and telling people what to post and not post, as well as checking how long they're on a website and when! In other words, most members here have told you to go take a hike, but it's obvious that until you get banned that it won't happen! I'm not only hitting the ignore button on your name, but am also hitting the Alert button on that attack again directed at me and we'll let a Moderator handle it from here on. |
Top, my old internet friend, just ignore him and his foolish ways.
Some folks aren't worth getting all spun up over. If you let the likes of him get under your skin, he wins. Better to just skip over anything he posts without even bothering to read it. After all, it's all gibberish anyways without any real merit and totally devoid of any valid information so it is no loss on your part. He thrives on aggravating you and some others. Ignore all he does and he will either screw up bad enough to get banned or he will get bored and go away. Either way, you come out ahead. |
Yep, and that's why he's now on Ignore and maybe the Moderators will be able to set him straight. I doubt that though and it will probably take a "time out-go to the corner" from them to get the message across, LOL!
|
I was hoping that he would take a hike too! He's constantly negative on any and all subjects! Judging by his posts, he doesn't know much about guns or hunting! He is going back on the ignore list, this time permanently!
|
I know that sometimes we are not as tolerant with newbies as we should be. We were all newbies and novice's at one time or another and this site is a good place to share, learn and fellowship with others that love hunting and shooting!
If he ends up on everyone's Ignore list, maybe he'll get bored arguing with himself and go haunt some other site! |
