Default Going in cold

This is my first attempt in deer hunting.
I am not able to visit the hunt site until I go hunting. The questions are:
Would it be advisable to hang a deer attractant in my lane of fire?
Or
Do I just go in sit and wait?

Thank you.

Just sit and wait/watch then make adjustments as needed IMO.

You never want to attract deer that are going to be there anyway. An attracted deer will bust you more often than deer just traveling through.

That is my thoughts anyway. I'll call, rattle etc. but never on my first sit.

Thanks for the info. I am getting a lot of mixed signals where I work with different techniques.

Patients is the key. You gotta have a sit and see what is going on before you can possibly design the right plan of attack IMO.

Take a grunt call.

First time in... Just sneak in... Sit down somewhere well hidden.. If you see an active deer trail when you are going in to sit down make sure you are well off it. Make sure the wind is not blowing toward where you think the deer might be coming out. If it is move to the other side if you still have time. If not find somewhere to sit and watch where the wind is in your face. The wrong wind will ensure you see nothing on your first sit. All you will hear is deer blowing and running somewhere off in the distance

I personally would not be afraid to hit a grunt call or estrus bleat once in a while... I use an estrus bleat 3 times.. 5 seconds apart followed by 3 quick short buck grunts and then a long buck grunt.. like b b b bbbbaaaa. lol have your gun up and ready
