Default Wool Clothing

I had this posted in the Bowhunting forum thought I might have a little better response on this tread.

How do you clean your wool clothes????

I was thinking of getting the Columbia Gallatin Range jacket and pants. It is priced reasonable at $75. Any experience with this stuff? In the Basspro mazagine it says to hand wash and online it says to dry clean only. I don' t think you can effectively dry clean clothes and keep them scent free can you?

Could they be washed on a gentle cycle in the washing machine.

Thank You

I have a friend that always has his " woolies" dry cleaned before every hunting season. He then places them in a plastic bag with 1/4 box of Baking Soda and " dry rinses" them for a day. He then removes all the powder and air dries them outside for a couple days and permantely put them in a rubbermaid container with twigs/sticks/pinecones etc from the area he hunts. He has never had any concerns with scent left behind by dry cleaning and his record in the field shows it.

Thanks for the information Jimmy. So you just pour some baking soa in a bag shake it up and leave it for a day then skake it out good and repack with twigs. Sounds easy enough.

Otis, is that for your wool clothes you wash? and you have not had any problems with shrinking.

I wash my wool in the machine on the gentlest cycle with cold water. I also use sportwash. Haven' t had a problem with noticable shrinking so far.
