Early muzzleloader season opened up here in Southern Maryland on Thursday. Since Thursday I've spent 16-hours in my treestand and haven't seen any deer movement! It's not just me, talking to my fellow hunters in the area they haven't seen anything either. I drove by the local processor and saw nothing hanging. Hoping things turn around tomorrow. 3-straight days of hunting is kicking my ass! I'M HURTING!

I remember the late muzzleloading season, in the snow, the cold and the last of deer season. Move, move, move and no deer. The finding of a deer trail in the snow, and waiting in a snow "foxhole" nearby.
Dragging that deer out of the woods had nothing to do with skill, I knew. It was endurance.
And so many decades ago.

The temps here in Southern Maryland have been in the mid to upper 70's. Just too warm for hunting right now and I'VE GOT CHIGGERS!!! I think the deer are moving at night. 3-days of sitting in the stand, moved to different locations and I've seen no deer movement. Next week the temps will be dropping to the mid 50's and full moon next weekend. My luck will change sooner or later.
