I remember the late muzzleloading season, in the snow, the cold and the last of deer season. Move, move, move and no deer. The finding of a deer trail in the snow, and waiting in a snow "foxhole" nearby.
Dragging that deer out of the woods had nothing to do with skill, I knew. It was endurance.
And so many decades ago.
