deer scoring help

Hopefully my mount will show the white diamond that he has between his front legs.
Just wondering about scoring I do got a few questions.
What's with the 60 day wait?
I shot him as is. And should be measured quickly. Similar to fishing you don't wanna out of the water and drying out to get an accurate weight.

The 60-day wait is allow the rack to dry and shrink to final size. Only important when antlers are borderline for a book or record. Otherwise, makes no difference. Just do as you would with a fish, add a couple inches.

Just seems silly to let it dry.
The deductions and stuff also seems silly.
Who knows maybe I don't get it, and I am fine with that. A number will never make me decide what a trophy is.

From my experience the shrink is pretty minimal, but like it was said above, only matters on borderline record book bucks. I'd guess most people don't even submit their deer for the books anyways.
I too don't really like the net scores, but I see it like this, the gross score tells me how BIG the deer is, while the net score tells me how SYMMETRICAL it is...
