Default Price keeps going up...

I go on a trip almost every year, this year I was in NW Ontario. Had a great time saw several bucks nothing at the 150 mark so I let them walk. I'm not sure about next year >> the prices just keep climbing...how can younger hunters ever afford to make a trip? When the heck will this level off...its like a $500 hike up every year, I know they need to make their money for the year in the short season but come on it's getting nuts. Most of them are averaging $700 per day. Heck the airfare is off the charts..my baggage was $185 xtra each way! Airfare this year was $870...I remember $250 and baggage was free. I just got invited to Saskatchewan ...the trip is $4500 without air and I haven't stopped to buy a hog dog...

OK ...I feel better all vented out

I agree. As a 26 year old I often dream about being able to go to Alaska, Canada, etc to hunt a moose, or caribou. He'll I would love to go to Colorado or Wyoming to hunt elk, or Idaho for black bear. However, like you mentioned, the prices are astronomical....I can't justify spending 5,000-10,000 when a hunt is all said and done. Not to mention taxidermy services and shipping meat back. It's frustrating.

I am putting in for antelope and elk points in Wyoming and hope to make it out there in the near future for a DIY hunt with a buddy who lives out there. Not sure I'll ever be able to hunt moose at these prices. Even a DIY moose hunt is a lot, in Wyoming it's taking about 10-15 years of points just to pull a tag,and now with the wolf population running rampant there, who knows how many moose are going to be around....

It is stagering to see the prices even with the economy the way it is. Just do some research there's still deals out there. I hunt a farm in MN where in 2 yrs I shot the one in my avatar 154 and a 140ish 8pt. I payed a little over $1000 for gas, lodging, tag, and tresspass fee. The average hunter can't afford the prices with outfitters. I did find an outfitter who charged me $1500 for a 5 day late season bowhunt. Lodging included in western IL. I saw alot of bucks and passed a questionable shot on a 140ish buck on the last day. there out there . Just got to put your time in looking online and making calls. IM me I can forward you some info on the places.
