Default Who uses deer decoys ?

Who uses deer decoys and what kind? 3-D, or flat?

I just bought a 3-D decoy for $20.00 bucks it was like 60% off because it was missing an antler,

How do you use yours?

used my 3D last year for the first time.I have a place that is sorta like they call a sebderio in Texas.the deer will sometimes stop and sometimes just go right across.I used the 3D to get them to stop and look my way.I have a blind on the edge and put the 3D in front of it.it is a doe decoy.
I have taken one nice buck that stopped and looked a little to long.

I had used a Mckenzie target as a decoy several years back with mixed results. On one occasion I had several deer feeding around the decoy but on another it seemed to scare them away.

I picked up one of those Flambeau bedded deer decoys a few weeks back and hope to have better luck with it this season.

Flambeau life size standing decoy. I just have to watch that it isn' t in sight of the road.

I have one of the Flambeau bedded deer and used it once.I had a doe and her 2 yougen' s come into the area where I was hunting and when she saw that " deer" -she practically turned herself inside-out getting out of there.Never used it again.

A hunting buddy of mine missed an opportunity at one of the largest bucks he' s ever seen when it spotted the deoy he had out. He' s a scent-free nut like most of us and an incredible hunter who plays the wind, so human scent wasn' t the reason that the giant buck gave the decoy a wide berth and the walked directly away . . . instead of following the trail it was on and giving him an easy, short-range shot.

He thinks that his decoy may be too ugly!
