I hunting of a 200 acre piece of farm land in east Texas.
I've been actively using game cameras for a few years now, and typically am starting to get pictures of several bucks.
This year has been much different......
I'm getting more pictures of doe this year than normal. I've got pics of 6 of them together (2 of them are fawns).
Went from late June to late September with ZERO pics of buck other than one spike. Finally got a few pics a young 7 point. Maybe 2.5 years old. Not really one I want to take right now.
I guess I have no other choice but to hang out for the rut to get going and see what happens. I'm still not seeing any rubs or scrapes, but the rut does kick in a little later here than other places.
Just for kicks, I made a mock scrape to see if anything would show any interest in it. Got a couple pics of the 7pt. checking it out, but not using it.
Anyone else had this kind of change in activity before? Any ideas what might have caused this?
The only thing I can think is that we have had a SEVERE drought this year. There is one small pond on the land that has just about totally dried up. Maybe the bucks went looking for water somewhere else??? If they did, then why didn't the doe also?
Just thought you folks might have some ideas....
Any input would be appreciated.

I have been hunting since the first of October probably been out 15 times and have yet to see a buck of any kind within shooting distance. In a normal year I would probably see an average of 1 to 2 each day. I don't know what the deal is.
