Hey Nato, does VA have a minimum age for kids to hunt? PA use to be 12, but we got this mentored youth hunting about 3 or 4 years ago. My boy started hunting at 6.

No minimum age, but under 12 must be under direct control of an adult.

Same here. We have to be together and have one weapon between us. I have to carry it while we're moving and he can hold it when we're stationary. He carries the shooting sticks and I carry the rifle. When we see something, I hand him the rifle and I set up the sticks for him.

Great to see it Barnes! Love seeing the kids getting out there! I notice two doe hanging, did one of the seniors get one too? 160lbs is a big PA deer.

Yeah, my dad's buddy got one (He's 75). My dad got one on opening day of archery (he's turning 81 this year). We keep the old-timers in the game as well as the youngins'. :D

Yeah, he broke the camp record of 156lbs that was set a few years ago. We also got a 154lb that year. The camp record for a buck is 232lbs and that will be tough to break. But we have a buck that's been hanging around for years that will do it. But I don't think anyone will ever get it. :confused0024:

Where do you hunt at in PA? We hunt around Indiana county, OUr biggest buck was in the 150's. You've hung some heavy ones it sounds like.
Gotta keep the old guys in it, every year my grandpa says it could be his last year. And every year I drag him out for a few hours each day. He's got a doe the last few years. He always took me when I was a youth, and now I get to return the favor.

Sullivan County. In the mountains. Big woods. Lots of land, not a lot of people. Deer get old.

Check out this porker. He's not out best antlered buck. Just one of the biggest bodies.

I think thats the biggest Doe I have ever seen, good job! Would your son be willing to teach me how to shoot? I seem to be able to hit them with my bow but not my ML. Once again congratulations on a fine trophy Doe.

Sure. I think his secret is that he does not over-think it. He just aims and shoots. That and his eyes are only 9 years old - much better than mine :D

Last year he hit 3 out of 4 turnips with that 30-06 at 100 yards. I couldn't believe it. And get this, he turns the power down to 3X when he shoots. Even at 100 yards.
