For me, it is not the bugs. It is the heat. It can be weird hot here. I have hunted in 95F + heat in October and have hunted I kid you not, several years ago a buddy of mine from Mich. came down for a late January hunt. It was so hot that week , several mornings I walked to my stand in the dark, naked from the waist up with my hunting shirt tucked under my pants belt. I ahve tried a lot of strategies to ward off the swamp angels. I have found that the most reliable is a repellent with 15% or so Deet.
