Hello everyone! I'm doing a project for school about hunters (nothing to bash hunting, I'm just intrigued by it) and I was wondering if a few people could give me a few responses to some questions I have. I've never been out hunting or held a gun in my life. This is one area which I know very little about. I was hoping someone could enlighten me on the subject.
Why do you choose to hunt Whitetail Deer?
What's it like while your hunting a deer?
What do you do with the body after you've killed your target?
How often do you hunt and which season is your favorite to hunt in and why?
Or if you want you can just describe to me what interests you about hunting and how you picked up this sport and describe how it impacts you life and feelings you have while hunting.
Thanks to anyone who can contribute some information to me!

Why do I choose to hunt whitetail deer?
Two reasons. 1st its a reason to be outdoors and second its meat in the freezer.
What is it like your hunting deer?
There is nothing like experiencing the woods comming to life when the morning breaks on a cool, crisp autumn/winter morning. This is one of the most enjoyable parts of deer hunting.
What do you do with the body...?
It gets skinned and quarted (cut into large muscle groups) and finish butchering at home. The carcass gets left for coyotes and scavangers to feed on.
How often do you hunt and which season is your favorite...?
I have always hunted the firearms portion. In the past it has been a week long camping trip. But I am in the process of getting into muzzleloader season. I think it would be a great experience using a single shot rifle like our fore fathers used.
In all honesty any reason to get out into the woods is a good reason.

1.) I enjoy it. Not only do I hunt them I spend all year studying them and preparing for the season. I also love nature and being outside.
2.) I don't really know how to describe what it's like but when you're in the woods there is a peaceful/relaxing feeling. Obviously there is excitement and a rush of adrenaline when you see a deer. After the animal is taken there is the feeling of success due to all of the hard work you put into your accomplishment.
3.) Weird question but my dad disposes on them properly after we let the dogs pick at them for a few days.
4.) Every minute I can.. Also I like rifle season better.

I hunt because it is a natural thing us humans do to eat! BUT not all humans are hunters there are also gatherers as well, who are just as important to the survival of their families. Some of us are born to hunt some of us not! There is no better feeling than the close encounters of the wild kind as experienced through the eyes of us hunters. After we harvest an animal we use every last morsel of meat for steaks, roasts, ground goods such as burger and sausage and jerky. All the family pets get their bellies full on scraps and bones till there is nothing left. Getting back to nature after the grind of our everyday lives working for a living, it is truly the call of the wild. Thanks for the opportunity to answer some of your questions and good luck on your paper!

1. The reason I choose to hunt whitetails is because they are plentiful. There are lots of them running around. Also a deer backstrap will beat the best cow steak any day flavor wise any day plus it is a healthy lean meat.
2. It is beyond the description of words. You will never know until you have experienced it. There is a mix of appreciation for all of the wonderful things that God put on this planet, the birds, the rodents, the deer. When you are sitting within 10 feet of a wild animal there is nothing else like it. You have a great since of accomplishment knowing that you got that close to it and it never knew you were there. There is nothing else like watching to fawns still in spots romping and playing in there natural setting. If you have ever seen a national geographic many hunters have experienced and witnessed much more powerful things first hand than many people who only know about animals from books. Nothing can replace the peace of watching two little bucks testing their horns in a friendly joust or watching two mature bucks in deep combat each trying to beat the other physically. There are few things that can make you laugh harder than the comedies of nature, such as watching a million sparrows chase off a red tail hawk. Or watching a young coyote chasing a butterfly. There are few things has beautiful as watching the sun come up in the morning and the world around you waking up, or watching the sky turn to a deep crimson and every color imaginable as the sun sets. If you really want to get close to nature there are few ways to get closer than thru the eyes of a hunter. Most of us can tell you more about the smallest of creatures in the woods than your current science teacher could ever imagine knowing. Sorry for this being so long but these are all of the things that I feel when I am hunting deer or any creature for that matter. Plus many more but I figure this will do for now.
3. The body is gutted and then hauled to the local butcher, or for some people it is home processed. Many people also donate the meat to a needy family or the Hunters for the Hungry program.
4. Every chance I get, and I do not have a favorite season any time you are out getting away from reality it is a good time. If you kill an animal it is just icing on the cake I have came home empty handed on more than one occasion and been just as happy as if I did not kill an animal.
I hope this helps sorry for the longevity but I got on a roll and just had a hard time stopping.

Why do you choose to hunt Whitetail Deer?
for the food and population control,
let populations grow without hunting, more will die from disease/starvation/predators/car accidents,
What's it like while your hunting a deer?
quiet and peaceful, lots of sitting and waiting
fun part is everything leading up that day,
What do you do with the body after you've killed your target?
dress it, have butcher process it
How often do you hunt and which season is your favorite to hunt in and why?
varies, didnt go out last year,
this year will be happy with 2-3 outings,
spend way more time scouting and preparing than actually hunting
Or if you want you can just describe to me what interests you about hunting and how you picked up this sport and describe how it impacts you life and feelings you have while hunting.
quality of food, and contributing to the wildlife management
didnt grow up hunting,
but evolved from spending lots of time outdoors
