I think that I heard the largest bodied whitetail buck ever taken weighed something like 397 pounds live weight. That could be a lie but that is just what I heard.

I have no clue if this is true, but I've heard of a lot bigger deer than that being killed. I heard somewhere around 450-500 pounds. I'm basising this off of memory and about 15th hand information.

The record is over 500 lbs.Several bucks over 400 lbs have been killed in alberta and saskatchewan and bucks over 300 lbs are killed regularly here.

I am sure that is true but I can not even begin to imagine what that would look like. The biggest deer this year was not even 200 in our club in VA.

Allen my cousin killed one in the Northern Neck that dressed at 210, which probably put him close to 280 on the hoof, he was huge, I would probably run from a 400 lb buck, I can not even imagine a 500+ pounder!
