RE: What is the largest whitetail ever taken?

I think that I heard the largest bodied whitetail buck ever taken weighed something like 397 pounds live weight. That could be a lie but that is just what I heard.

Good Luck This Season: Buck Magnet
P.S. Only Chuck Adams can sit at home and see deer so get into the woods. =;^)

I have no clue if this is true, but I've heard of a lot bigger deer than that being killed. I heard somewhere around 450-500 pounds. I'm basising this off of memory and about 15th hand information.

The record is over 500 lbs.Several bucks over 400 lbs have been killed in alberta and saskatchewan and bucks over 300 lbs are killed regularly here.

I have also heard of a deer that was taken a few years back that went around the mid 500 lb. range. I would need to see a picture to believe it though.

I am sure that is true but I can not even begin to imagine what that would look like. The biggest deer this year was not even 200 in our club in VA.

Allen my cousin killed one in the Northern Neck that dressed at 210, which probably put him close to 280 on the hoof, he was huge, I would probably run from a 400 lb buck, I can not even imagine a 500+ pounder!

Two deer have been reported that wieghed 511 lb. each, one was from Minn. I have read about these deer in several books and mags. Would hate to drag one of those bad boys!

there have been deer in Min., Mich., Maine, and Canada that have tipped the scales at 500 lbs. Only a VERY few though.
