Default Really super nervous

Ok, So at 10:10am i shot my 1st bow buck. a nice 8 point at about 25yards but i had a bad shot on him, i hit about 4-6in back behind the shoulder. When i texted my uncle to tell him he said i should give him a couple hours to go down. You guys think he will go down?
And another thing, iv never let a deer sit this long. The weather is really nice today witch is very odd for Mid Nov, But its about 60+ out and stayin like this all day. Will the Meat still be good????
Thanks
~Blue

For a couple hours the meat should be fine if he expires. Estimate that he might remain alive for 1 or those 2 hours so he's really only dead for 1 hour. His body temp will decrease in that time.

I live by the most important thing in taking care of the meat is that the meat consistently reduce in temp right up until it's in the cooler.

I'll give you a (pre)congrats. Hope you find your buck. Post a pic.

I agree, you should be ok with the meat. Get to work right away after you find him, and you'll be good to go!

4-6 inches behind the shoulder isn't that bad of a shot!! Are you aiming at deer like you have a gun in your hand? 4-6 inches with broadside or 1/4 away is a good hit IMO. Go look for him

If your shot was broadside or 1/4ing away at all, and your shot was anywhere in the ribs, you probably caught the liver at least, in which case he will be dead within an hour.

I killed this deer last month. arrow went in between the last 2 rear ribs and came out between the 4th and 5th rib from the rear on the other side. caught both lungs and the liver. found him stone dead 60 yds from the shot.
