Importance of a Hunting Journal
#1
For many young hunters or those just starting out i would just like to recommend keeping a Journal from day to day in the woods.
I have only Been hunting for 9 years now and thinking back on my different hunts i find it hard to recall alot of things i saw and details.
Reading through my journal the other day I couldent believe how much stuff i had forgot even from the past year. Most hunters would agree that jotting down a few notes after a hunt will go a long way someday. And its always nice reading a parents hunting journal and hearing stories from 30 years ago. Basically to all you novice and seasoned hunters alike, try out a journal for a year and see how you like it. Include where you hunted. with who, winds, times, anything you want. trust me its definitely worth it.

I think its good to have if you log down the moon phase, temp, wind and a topo map where you sat that day. I'm starting one next year for public land and our land. Im printing off topo maps for all property's and then making 100's of copies. Each page is going to have a topo map, where I sat that day, wind direction, moon phase and dates, and what type of deer I seen. Something fun and one day I'll pass it on.
