Just wondering what everyone has noticed in regards to how deer move in resonse to the prevailing wind....what I really mean is to say its a NW wind would you expect the deer to appear for the most part from that direction or does it really not have any effect on what direction they might appear?

the only effect as far as deer movemnet and prevail winds I have seen on my farm is. Southern winds I may as well stay home, any wind out of the North and I am gonna have a good hunt. NW wind is by far my most productive wind, I duck hunt and fish for Stripped Bass, and it's the same with them. just my observations, from my little spot on google earth

I agree with night crawler, any wind out of the north north/west is good. Mostly because it indicates a cold front of some kind and that triggers critters to feed heavier and earlier. For me as well, wind out of the south I might as well stay home, except during the rut. Then I'm in a stand no matter what.

I've never seen wind direction play a role in deer movement. It can certainly make a difference in how many deer you see if the wind direction is wrong for a particular stand. I think wind speed has more affect on them than anything. Super windy days keep the deer on edge.
