Thats not my problem, MR. DEER HUNTER, My problem is that I am on orders. I have been ordered to do a mission 3,ooo miles away from home. I can't get the weekend off or a week to go home. There is a critical mission here. Although, I wish it was easy as you made it sound.
If you want to do it bad enough - then you got to make up your mind that when you get some time off that you are going to come home in hunting season and not for the 4th of July or Christmas.
My brother in law was in the military for many years and he always came home for hunting season if possible.
My dad and two uncles were in the military and my dad was home most every weekend when he was not out on the ship. Dad knew how to volunteer for other assignments at times where he could get off one navy base and get onto another with just enough time to go hunting for a week without being awol.
My grandfather often kidded him that he must have been stationed down at the local pond because it seemed that he was home most every weekend. Even if they had to steal a plane to do it.

Hey buddy, I'm deployed to the Pentagon right now! Yes, really. I'm on a TCS order, which I didn't know existed (I only knew of PCS and TDY). For a TCS, I'm here for a year without my family -- they contracted an apartment for me, but they're also paying my BAH for my home of record. It's worse than being in Iraq in a lot of ways, but I haven't been to Afghanistan yet.
I'mg giving a go at Virginia white tails this year; licensing in VA is cheap and they're giving me in-state prices due to my military service.

2- I'm happily married, but my wife and kids are in Colorado, so no women (I wholeheartedly believe in "until death do us part," not, "until a lot of miles do us part").
3- I'm missing everything with my kids - 1st day of pre-school, birthdays, holidays, etc. I'm working in a 24-7 environment so we don't automatically get holidays off, etc. These are things I'll never get to repeat. There are a lot of "firsts" at their ages, and I'm missing every one of them.
4- The crime rate in DC is worse than the violence in Iraq, and for the first time in my adult life I'm unarmed!
5- I was fighting the Republican Guard when you were in diapers! Now that was fighting; they were a professional military, after all. I also ate MREs for 10 months with no "A" rations EVER!!! There was no such thing as a DFAC in those days, no containerized housing units, no air conditioning, etc. You kids don't know what war is!
6- When you have 16 years of service under your belt, then perhaps I'll take a ribbing from you...then again, by the time you have 16 I'll be up to about 31! I have lived in more foxholes, humped more miles, been shot at more times, spent more nights away from loved ones, and eaten more MREs than you know are possible right now.
7- Happy hunting. They're not deer, but you have my blessings to shoot every terrorist azzhat that crosses your sector. Daily bag limit: Unlimited.

Lol, That is true and you made a valid point that alot of times I don't think about. Its just I get so frustrated sometimeS When I see people complaining about how there job sucks and there **** hole etc. etc. When your actually living In a zone that is 10x worse than America. I respect you for like you said, Being away from wife, kids, Missing so much! Your a good man! Also with number 2, shows that you have good morals. That gains my respect in itself
