New to the forum, new to deer hunting....

I killed the first buck right beside the pond I now live by. I have scouted the property a bit and there is a flat about halfway up the hill between the pond and ridgetop. It is absolutely covered with Hickory trees. Always see lots of sign here, tracks, scrapes, rubs, etc. I am thinking about setting up on the top side of this flat, towrds the ridgetop. The deer seem to come down the other ridge in the A.M. stop by the pond and work their way up to the hickory's by late morning. I can either access the flat from the pond and walk uphill or ride my ATV out the ridgetop and come downhill to the flat. Does this seem like a good plan? also, should I come down from the top of the ridge or up from the pond?
