I forget the name of it. I have seen deer with black growths the size of frizbees before. it is not all that uncommon I believe - and they do not pose a serious threat to the health of the deer.

i killed a deer about five years ago that had a black growth about the size of a golfball on its lip.i remember the game warden telling me what it was.he said it was not harmful in any way

I believe that its cutaneous fibroma.Harmless but horrible looking condition attributed to biting insects passing on some type of virus.Deer with this affliction are usually found in the southeastern U.S.A.Its bark is worse than its bite.A deer harvested having this condition would be safe to consume.Regards
