Default South Texas bucks

I've been watching alot of outdoor shows during the off season. How come most all of the bucks from South Texas have tall racks but lack of width & mass ? This can't be genetics in all of South Texas ?

the good bucks you find in s texas with massive racks come from high fenced ranches. they have more nutrition provided for them. s texas is very dry and barren with little growth.

most s. texas deer i have seen have the same characteristics. i guess they dont need a heavy rack since they need to conserve water and energy to stay cool.
