Default PA WMU3D public land hunter nice shot

Archery season was uneventful with 5 illegal bucks, and no does within shooting distance. 8 weeks go by in archery preparing tag soup, and then comes rifle season. Let my fix that, 2008 season thru Archery 09 preparing tag soup. Got a late start yesterday after what seemed like a monsoon rain event in NEPA. I played cat and mouse with another hunter the entire morning, and knew that he knows this honey hole as good as me. I hiked a half mile in, and seen nothing the first 3 hours. I started to hike out, and made it to 200 yards from my truck. Here comes 2 doe crossing the trail not 20ft in front of me. I had to scope each head checking for bumps, and unleashed the 300winmag. I neglected to bring my hitch hauler in hopes of such a predictment. Clean headshot, the trusty model 66, I live, I ride, I jeep, and backstraps for the weekend.

Who needs a pickup? That jeep has been covered in blood hauling deer since 2002. 5 doe, and one legal buck back in 2003.

Debatable during archery, not so with a heavy hitting 300 winmag. Walking away, she stopped, turned her head, scoped it for buttons, and fired. What's better, ass first brown its down, oops it's a lil buck?

glad you got it but....300 win mag...for whitetail? Were you out of RPG ammo? I thought I was overgunned with 3" mag slugs but yikes.

:-)

Hey, every once in a while its fun to swat flies with baseball bats. You can really smash the crap out of them. :-)

You couldn't see if it was a button buck at 20 ft--thats only like 8-9 yards.. I can spit that far...
