Default Identifying an estrous doe

Is there any way from observing a doe to tell if she's in estrous? I've read that that they will signal with a tail straight out, but is there anything else?

their glands (not for sure if they are called tarsal also)where a bucks tarsal glands are will turn brown but i cant remember if that is after estrous or during
