Default should calls be used during second season in Illinois

I hunt in central IL Marshall county to be precise. Should I use any calls for the 2nd gun season that starts on the 3rd. Not sure what stage the rut is in and need some tips, thanks

I always carry a grunt call with me but use it sparringly. Especially considering that our deer have been subjected to a lot of pressure up to this point. Generally calling at a alate season deer only gives it a reason to circle downwind, so I only like to call to deer I can see. Be cautious and good luck next weekend!

i would always carry a grunt call and i would still carry a set of rattling antlers but just to call one in if you are trying to get them into range that you already see

Carry "The Can" with you. The bucks will still be out searching for those last few does and the The Can may just pull them in for you.

The best thing you can do is limit your movemment when your on stand...a well as noise so no I wouldnt do a thing but pay attention. You have a gun in your hands not a bow ie 100yd range. Typically by now these deer are way to schooled up and anything out of the norm is probably going to cause you more heartbreak then happiness. JMO.....
