Default Need some advice

Ok so lets just say I have a great oppurtunity. I have permission to hunt a private piece of land that bumps up against a wilfelife refuge. Its been a refuge for years. My friend whos letting me hunt his property has 8 pointers and has seen a few 10s and 11s on his lawn. Im going to hunt it during rifle season but I want to position myself where these big bad boys are hangin out. If this is popping out on his lawn then what is deep in the woods? I found a spot overlooking mountain laurel that a gully feeds into. I was thinking about setting my stand in here the wind would be perfect itd be in my face so what do you guys think?

Seeing that the rut has started I would do some scouting to find some scrapes cuz thats where at least one of them would be hanging out. Just plopping a stand any old place may make for some long days without seeing a thing. You have to do your homework if you want a chance at any of those deer. Get out there and scout!

If you cannot do that, set up in your buddies back yard! To me thats not hunting!

Myself, I like a little more of a challange!

I have a buddy who hunts Rockland county he killed an absolute Monster this year. Sterling forest should be good I like going back there all day and still hunting. I like the new things theyv added this year like antler restriction and having DEC with quads to help you take your deer out of the woods.

Im against ARs personally, I think it discourages new hunters and does nothing to grow bigger ones, but thats JMO. I do like all the new spots theyve opened up in southfields and rt17a. Ive hiked wildcat mountain trail and always wanted to hunt it mabye now I will
BTW my PM feature was turned off somehow but I turned it back on so keep me posted on whats going on locally ,good luck
