Here are two pics, showed earlier, i took about 400 yards from my back door. There were five bucks in the group total, the twelve, and the nine shown, and eight, 2 sixes and a 3. I took pics of all 5 one night and one night and one night only. I moved to this area in march so I dont know the wood around here during hunting season. Next to my house is 100 acres of recently thinned pines. no roads, no trails, no plots,no stands. Most likely not alot of preasure of the past few years, although about 8 houses on both sides, I know of 1 serious hunter. Next to the pines is a 100 acre field planted in beans, just harvested, and will have cows over the winter. Fence is low enough for easy deer acess. Field has not been hunted in several years. No roads, trails, stands, or signs of anything other than a road for farming equipment. Next to the field is 100 acres that once again has no trails, plots, stands or signs of hunting, in the past few years. Next to this 100 acres is 2000 plus acres which i am sure gets hunted but not heavily, because it is in the hands of developers, and i watch the acess points. I have full permission to hunt the the first 300 acres next to my house, and am the only person to have permission. All of this property except for the field is very thick. Just started puting out cams. I expect to find i have more deer of this caliber
I think this will be my strategy TELL ME I AM CRAZY!!! I will hunt the first two days of gun season. After that i will hunt my cams, have a presence on the land, maybee spot the field a little, moniter the acess points, and unless i see big deer during the day, i will leave them COMPLETLY ALONE untill the middle of january, then hunt every day in the field and a few other spots that are open. The field will be the biggest doe magnet within 3 miles, I know this deer will walk out in the open come the start of the rut.
I know i have a good thing and i might get lucky tearing through the wood before and after dark over the next couple of months. But i swear if i leave it alone just like its been for the past few years, i will kill this deer come rut in the wide open. What yall think.
