One more here that agrees with how the WDNR is handling the deer herd. As a poster has said, I've been hunting in WI since 12 and I'm 26 now. I've seen a difference, negatively too. For us normal people, who have to hunt on public land, there simply is NO deer. I don't think that the deer are stupid enough to hang around once they figure that "its that time of the year again," and move to hunting refugees or to private land that is never hunted. Sure, I can see a herd of deer in a field, but thats only 1 field in a while. Used to be that I would see a few deer in a lot of fields, not just one field.
I've hunted on county land in Clark county for the last 7 or 8 years, and I've noticed that the deer herd has gone down year after year. This year, while bow hunting there, I've noticed something I've never seen before - WOLF tracks. There were a lot of wolf dropings with LOTS of deer hair in it. If the WDNR has re-introduced the wolfs, I'd just like them to be honest and say so.

Thats another thing we need to address as well is the Wolf population. The DNR knows theres a problem with the Wolves so what do they do....they brought in Black Wolves to take care of the other Wolves. If you know wolves, you know the black wolf is the most deadly of all. They wont hesitate to bring anything or anyone down, even their own. We dont need wolves. What pisses me off about the wolves is one day they arent protected and the dnr wants them killed off, the next day some anti hunting socialists pass a law saying its against the law to shoot them, then they are off the protected list again and back on and back off and so on. Who is in charge here. The antis, the insurance companies? This has to stop or there will be no hunting for our kids. I took my 11 year old son out this year for his first time hunting, we didnt see a thing. He didnt get bored and he kept his interest but he asked me one little question, he said, "Dad, what happend to all the deer that used to be here?" It broke my heart to tell him the truth. Hes been going along hunting with me for the last 5 years and he loves it. He shot his first real gun this fall and loved it. Hes hooked. But if we dont do something as a hole, our kids wont have anything to look forward to.

Could you explain to me how can shooting too many bucks make the population go down? Shooting way way way too many DOES makes the population go down. And we believed our great dnr that we had record numbers of deer so we shot too many does. Now we need to get them to quit pushing their elimination of deer ideas on us!!!
