I have hunted with both a 25.06 Rem. and 6.5x55 SE. The Ackley improved is porbably a tad up form the typical Rem. cartridge. I still use the SE some and it is my No. 1 "lender". I no longer have the 25.06, but for no particular reason. I like the 6.5x55 SE and have had no problems finding ammo at local sports shops. I hand load most of what I use in the SE anyway because I can get superb groups and fine velocity out of my Mauser. I say it is pretty much a toss up though the 25.06 might prove to be a tad better at longer ranges ... but around here about 150-200 yards is as far a clear shot as I'll get. So the SE is plenty good.

I have a Ruger 6.5mmSwede and the ammo is Norma @ $47 per 20 cartridges.......If you roll your own, go with the 6.5mmSwede if not go with the .25-06..........They both will kill a moose!!

my ackley is awesome for long range shots, like soy bean fields, corn fields, etc. i roll my own for both rifles. on the other hand my SE is a sweet gun. accurate and everything ill prolly go with both of em but since its pretty thick down here in missouri right now ill start the season off with my SE. thankx guys
