Default Twins/Triplets

Had a doe hanging around the edge of my property who had twin fawns last year. Just saw her this morning with triplet fawns. Anybody ever see that?

Yeah...... i've seen plenty of does with triplets. Two of the most likely scenario's is she did indeed have triplets or she picked up another fawn along the way.

Yeah, but how common is it for a Doe to have twins one year, then triplets the next?

I have never seen 3 fawns at the side of a "single" doe. Twins are rather common down this way ... SE Alabama.

I'm bored everyday. But the concept of a doe having twin fawns one year, then triplets the next has generated a glimmer of interest and enthusiasm in an otherwise mundane existence.

Where I am, I would say 80% of the does had triplets 3 years ago. Guess what? It was a killer winter. Nature has a way of maintaining the species and having a lot of fawns is is one of the ways. I have seen this a few times now.

I see plenty of triplets here in PA. I saw one doe with quads this year.

I have seen this in the wild also, one of the largest does my dad ever shot weighed in at 160 pounds and she had three button buck fawns with her at the shot.

We also raised deer for a number of years and had triplets a few times, mostly from our older does (5-6 years old), though one doe birthed twins every year from 1 and a half through her death of 9 years old.
