Default Could this be it

I was walking along a deer trail and I saw tons of places where deer peed. (In the snow)
Anyways I was just wondering if it were possible to know if it was possible to determine whether it was a buck or doe by the smell of their pee. I smelled six or seven and noticed that there were two different smells. The one just smelled like regular pee but others had a smell of tarsal gland. So I was just wondering that maybe buck's pee smells kinda like tarsal gland. I really have no idea. Does any one think they know. Or is it becasue of what they eat?

the most reliable way to tell the difference isn't smell, but taste.

Too bad someone didnt catch you smelling various piles of piss in the snow. You'd be attending the shrink real quick.

Seriously though, taste them. It's much easier to decipher between a buck and doe by the taste.

Weird, where I hunt in Illinois, buck poop does taste like chocolate but Doe poop tastes like strawberries. Doe pee from all my tasting has more of a mint strawberry flavor.

I've heard that you can tell the difference by just looking at it. Don't remember which is which, but one pees in one spot and the other moves forward while it's peeing. Since I don't recall which is which, I agree tasting is the way to go

If it was in the snow, look at the tracks, thats the easiest way to tell. Does and bucks will both pee in the same spots as a way of communicating with one another also.
