What Slugs?
I have a 1187 20 guage sportsman with a 1:24 inch twistrifled barrel. I have shot the Hornady SST slugs and have not been getting the Accuracy at 50 yards thatI should be getting (6" groups)... What am I doing wrong or is it the set up..?

Do you have a scope? If so make sure everything is tight, mounting rings and base. What distance are you shooting? What other slugs have you tried? Most guns will shoot a particular slug better than the other. Go get a box of Lightfield Hybreds, Remington Copper Solids, Federal Vital Shocks, and about any other 20 gauge sabots you can find. Start shooting at 13 yards for a group. Don't worry about scope adjustment, shoot for a group. Find out which slug shoots the best. Then move out to 25 yards, then 50, and then so on. As you move further out you can tweek your scope. You just need to find out first which slug your gun shoots best. Good Luck.

I had the same results with the SST's but shooting a NEF .20 gauge USH. I tried the Hastings 2 3/4 slugs and what a difference. I have a 1-2 inch group at 50 yds sighted in 2 inches high. At 100 yards 3-4 group 4 inches low, I am not sure how people are getting better groups. Good luck.

The Hornady SST, Winchester partition gold and Rem ultra core lokt are the original group of high velocity slugs for accuracy. If one doesn't group well, try another. For accuracy, buy one box of every sabot slug, make sure everything is still tight, including barrell. Clean the barrell before you start testing. After each shot run a wire brush through the barrell to clean out any plastic left behind. For a more consistent result use a bench rest, and squeeeeze the trigger, don't pull. In 2005 Iowa season a hunter shot a 8pt buck at 242yrds using the 12ga Hornady SST. One head shot. Dropped on the spot. I use them, but I haven't tried that. I can't see that far.

RE: What Slugs?
Thanks for the info.... I went down to the range last night and fired the Managed Recoil 20 guage Buckhammers (Had some boxes givin to me) they leave a great hole in the target and Idid find them more accurate then the SST's.....Did anyone also find great results with the Buckhammers and do you think I should go with the standard buckhammers? Thanks again for the inputs....
