Bullets don't shoot straight.

that is the model i shoot and mine will shoot on a line at about 100 yards. after that i aim about an inch higher per 100 yards .. so i would aim an inch high at 200 and two inches high at 300. i don't like shooting over 100 though so i don't do it often.

Deleted for skirting the profanity filter, violation of posting rule number 1.

A remington 700 will shoot as straight as any gun...no flatter no slower than another....sight it in at 100 yards shoot it at other distances and you will find out! Also read a reloading manual for some technical info!

The drop is determined by many factors and has a lot more to do with the bullet (caliber, grain, type, etc.) than the actual rifle itself.

it will be different from bullet weight and load and everything. Find a bullet that shoots well out of your gun and start shooting. learn your loads and how they shoot. write it all down. then you're set

ORIGINAL: vabyrd

Bullets drop the second they leave the barrel. 165grain 30-06, 100 yd zero will drop to about 2.5" at 200 yards and about a foot at 300 yards. I doesnt make a rats a$$ what model rifle it is.
That statement isn't accurate. Barrels are slightly angled up on rifles so the bullet actually travels at an upward angle before it starts to drop. That's why people can zero a rifle at 36 yards and it will be good for 300 yards depending on wind.

No, the sights or scope are at an angle to the barrel. The barrel is straight. line of sight is straight, bullet path is an arc.
