What score does a deer need to be a Boone and Crockett whitetail?
I have been trying to find out what net score a deer needs to be a B and C deer. Do you know?
Also
When you look at a deer, how can you make an educated guess on what type of score it would receive? Watching hunting shows and that, they always talk about "a good 160 class", how do they know by just looking?
Thanks.

Typical - 160" for an award and 170" for all time record books.
Non-typical - 185" for an award and 195" for all time record books.
Making an educated guess on a rack just comes with experience. I was lucky to grow up around a taxidermy shop and got to handle a lot of racks. Basically, you just need to look at a lot of racks you know the score of and you start comparing. While in the field just start doing the math in your head. Take a guess on the width, start adding tine length and so forth. You will pick up on it quick once you know what your doing.
