Default I know its not the automotive forum but....

my truck has been having trouble starting and when it does start it does not idle. i was wondering your guys opinion on what needs to be checked or changed?? im not a mechanic so im clueless and any suggestion would be noted and tried. i have been told the spark plugs may be bad?? i dunno,by the way it is a 2001 chevy silverado 2000

try cleaning your throttle plates and/or air intake plate - sometimes they carbon up and limit the air flow

that usually doesn't make for hard starting, but certainly hurts them on idle

It might be your idler sensor, your spark plugs could be going bad as well as your spark plug wires. Or as noted above it could just be dirty.
for the price of going to the dealership you can buy one of the machines (auto parts store) that will plug into your computer and read out the codes to you. Good luck.
