Default My "Happy Birthday Buck"

I am so humbled and thankful for this experience. How lucky can a guy get.

This is the buck I killed near Menard, Tx. on my 60th. birthday ... 11/11/2008. I tried to post the photo earlier but could not figure out how. Thanks to "PA Bowhunter" for the walkthrough.

This buck has 19 score-able points. I has been officially scored 179 5/8 gross. Shot him at about 4:40 p.m. @ 165 yards +/-. Using a Styer Pro Hunter "Mountain" in 308 Win. , 165 gr. Game Kings (hand loads). I was hunting from a ground blind. Total free range ... no "high fence". Actually on a 2000 acre +/- "goat farm" on which I had done only minimal scouting. But I had found where several deer trails came together, up out of a shallow live oak bottom. I had seen several deer come out of that bottom earlier in the day including a huge 5x4. I could never get on him because he was running does all over the flat. This one came out behind 2 does. I had no clue what he had on top. I just say the height and the G2 kicker on the left side. Probably a good thing too !? It is by far my best buck ... Happy Birthday to me and thanks be to God !
