RE: cost for mount
It all depends on where you live. In Indiana my dad shot a buck and the cheapest that we have found is $450 and thats the cheapest shoulder mount in our area. Just depends on the way you want it to be mounted. The taxi said that the average where we live is $500

Here the normal is anywere from $350 to $500, 3months to a year to get your mount back.
The Buck on the left was $ 350.00 and took a year. The buck on the right was this years @ $500.00 and it was back in 6 weeks. I was the 1st one in this year.

RE: cost for mount
i find that most of the cheap price on mounts are guys that do it part time. the taxidermist that are trying to make a living at it must charge more ,but they are usually the experts so they should charge more.
price can vary alot depending on the way they do them, tanned hides take more time and hold up longer,it also makes a differents if he tans his own hides or pays someone else to do it at a tannery. the cheapest way money and time wise is to use dried preservatives ,but they dont make as good a job. most times you get what you pay for .
my buddy is full time taxidermist ,he was charging 325.00 for shoulder mount with tanned hide . this year he went up to 395.00 because his materials and shipping is up 28%. he does excellent work and already has 70plus mounts to do.

RE: cost for mount
I paid $425.00 and it was 15 months.
He is a school teacher day day and a taxi at night.
In 2007, when I dropped this deer off to be mounted I was #107 at the time.
He ended up with 133 deer to mount for 2007.
I really like his work.

RE: cost for mount
I had a mule deer pedestal mount done last year the cost $600. That was pretty consistant with most of the quality taxidermists in my part of the world. None of them seem to be running out of work and stay busy.
