finally some pics...whitetailfanatic, i dont think i would want to take that shiny scope out in the woods. I would think the sun would reflect off of it and the deer would see you...
I think the idea that a whitetail deer seeing a shiny scope and or gun in the woods is a total myth. In all the years I've been hunting with my gloss finish rifle/scope I've never experienced this. They are much more likely to smell you or hear you stumbling around than see a glint of light off of a scope. Anyway, I too am hunting with a Ruger M77 MKII in .270 Caliber with a Leupold Vari-X II 3-9 X 40. If any of you Ruger guys want to get a fantastic after market trigger for you rifle I highly suggest this one http://www.spec-tech-industries.com/. It arrived 2 days after I placed the pay-pal order and I got it installed in about an hour. I now have a Ruger with a fully adjustable trigger set to about 3 lbs of pull with no creep. Best 80 bucks I've spent in a while

Normally, I use a .300 win mag. But sometimes I break out the old Winchester 30-06. I've been letting my nephiews use my 30-30. But this year I may just stick with the Thompson Center Omega Z5 since it's been going so good.
