My Daughter uses the Remington Core-Lokt in 100 grain in her Rossi Youth single shot .243,and I use the 100 grain Hornady Custom bullets in my Browning A-bolt .243 Rifle.I like shooting the heaviest bullet in our .243 Rifles for the best knock-down power available in that size of Rifle.Like most have stated....Shot Placement is the key to a quick humane kill on a Deer!

I use the 90-gr Remington Scirocco

I switched last year and didn't get a deer but they are very accurate in my rifle.

When my brother and I shot .243's, all we shot was 100 grain.

My wife, both sons, and I have all used a .243 very successfully for both deer and antelope. Always we have used 100 gr, just because I felt happier using a slightly heavier bullet.

Certainly, as has been stated, shot placement is of prime importance. However, I've also killed many deer with .270, 30.06, and 7mm mag with bullets ranging from 130 to 180 gr. With a well place double lung shot, the deer have consistently gone further after being shot with a .243 than with any of the others.

Bottom line - I would certainly use 100 gr rather than a lighter bullet.
