Default Anyone use the Butt Out gutting tool?

Just picked this upa couple months ago because last year once deer season was around there were none to be found. Just wondering if anyone has used this yet? For anyone who hasn't seen it yet its a piece of plastic you stick in the deers rectum and assitsts with gutting a deer. Seems like a great tool and much easier than trying to cut out therectum when your alone and its dark out. I'm looking forward to trying it, but just want to know everyones opinion. Thanks

I used one last year. It really worked good. Just put it in, twist and pull out.

I just bought one last week. Won't use it until the Illinois gun season. How important is it to tie off the membrane that comes out? Anyone found a "better way" than the directions?

I don't take the butt out...I simply bone out the hams or take my knife and cut around the ball and socket joint that holds the hams on and pop them off...

i have used this tool several times and love it. It took me a couple of times to get it work right but it is so much easier and cleaner than anything else I have used. I usually cut around the anus from the outside the stick the the buttout tool in and twist. Make sure you twist until you cant anymore unlike the directions say a quarter or half a turn. Usually will twist once or twice, that it doesn't slip out. Once twisted just pull and wham'o its done. I don't tie off the membrane but just cut and then grab onto it from the stomach cavity to keep from anything spilling. My butcher told these tools were one of the best things invented for field dressing if used right.
