RE: Some SOB stole my ladder stand again
Buy a lock on and once its up, chain it in with a heavy chain and padlock. then remove the last 4 or 5 steps (or last climbing stick or two) that way no one can steal it and would be forced to bring their own ladder out to get your stand. doubt he or they will want to put forth that much effort into getting it. my dad inscribes our last name into his stands jsut in case as well. Just remember, if you put it out of reach, they cant get it and usually wont put forth much effort into getting it, they want a quick swap of the item(s) and get out.

It could be that whoever is steeling it is selling it for scrap metal. metal is high right now and scrappers will take anything not cemented in. sometimes theyll take that too. at the scrap yard, nothing gets looked at, if its magnetic, it comes off the truck and gets recycled. your inscriptions will never be seen.
painta stand bright pink then notify any scrap yards around if it gets stolen. someting painted bright pink might get someones attention.

If it wasn't such a good spot I'd say the heck with it. I only buy the $60 ones. I did it again. This time I used some log chain and a master lock. I inscribed my name and phone number. If there being sold to other hunters or installed on other land, perhaps I'll get a phones.
Interesting addition to the story. I checked all my other 8 stands today after installing the new one again (I know call me stupid or stubborn... been accused of both). One stand onsthe same property and one stand on the ajoining property, the 2 closest stand to the stolen one, had the ratchet straps stolen but the stands and padlock were still there.
I inscribed all 8 stands with my name and phone number in 3 spots on the front of each section. SOB's
