early season tactics
I will be hunting next week on some land in western NC that my uncle has killed two buck in the 130 to 135 range. He is getting older now and scouting for him isalmost relegated to going right to his stand sites and watching as opposed to walking up and down some very steep terrain. My question is, I know quality deer are in the area as the land is loaded with apple trees and plenty of white oaks, is there a lure or calling stratigy that might make my hunt more successful. I will take his suggestions to heart but I thought I would bounce this question around here aws well. Thanks.

Soft contact grunts if you must call at all. BTW, deer are just as lazy as we are, hunt the low points between the high spots, and the bases of any ridge fingers. The trails will show you where.
