A good security system works just as well, if not better. They are dependable, easy to use, work even when you are not home, and best of all, nobody takes the chance of getting shot. Just an idea.

There worth the money

Got the pump 870, sps-t leaned up beside the bed. One Federal 3 1/2" #4 shot in the chamber, followed up with some #8's. Now if the girlfriend would turn the damn fans down a little I might could hear an intruder creepin around! Guess I needto get mea couple ofguard dogs to meet em at the door.

As far as a good gun,a .380 would be a nice gun for a lady. My wife shoots mine on occasion and she handles it quite well. The models are up to you but the caliber and recoil is all she needs.

I have a Glock 22 and a Xd and with my wifes smaller hands she loves the XD. The slide on my glock catches her hand for some reason. My xd is also ported so that helps. jsut my .02

s&w .38 snub nose, with or with out the hammer. my mom and sister both have one, very good lil guns. get the air weight, it feels like your holden a water gun. i can stick it in either pocket and youll never know im packin.

Look around your local ranges and bigger shops. We have a shop that for $10 you can shoot 3 diff pistols to see what you like. You want something that will fit but if you stick with the 40 and go with the sub compact it will likely recoil too much for her. I have a glock 23 which is the midsize and I love it(just put nite sights on it). Itweighs about 26oz unloaded. You might try the Kahr lineup. Kahr makes a very good compact 9 and 40.

Irecently purchased the new Ruger LCP, it is in 380,it weighs about half that of the glock (10 oz) and would fit nicely in a purse. As the officer said a good 410 would be good in the house, but she would likely carry a smaller pistol like the LCP more often than a heavier glock. Hope this helps.

I bought my wife the smith & wesson 642 38. It is hammerless can shoot through her purse or windbreaker if need be. Deadly at close range which applies to any room in your home.
