Default How do you apply scents?

Whats your best method to applying scents?Do you spray into the wind, scent wicks, pour on the ground or what? I've tried taking litte tennis ball (cat toys) and soaked them in pee so I could toss them away from me but never had too good of results with that. Anything work for you?

I don't use them anymore but whenI did in the past, I used the scent wicks and hung them on branches. I have drawn in some bucks with them but never any mature deer, but they did draw in some deer when used the right time of the year!!!

I don't buy all that stuff. It's just more crap to haul into the woods. I do carry two 35mm film cannisters (watertight), and if I get to gut a deer, and he (or she) has urine left, I drain it into the cannisters. Then when I'm getting ready to go out, I cut the pee 50/50 with water and put it in a squirt bottle. I apply it after I've gotten in my stand, then squirt it on limbs, tree trunks, whatever, at about nose-level. Any that I might have left at the end of the season, I freeze for next year. It's not too high-tech, but it's cheap and good 'nuff for me.

Ain't had anything to gut? Stew a bunch of acorns and oak leaves and use the liquid. Keep it refrigerated, because it'll get moldy if you don't.

I liek to use wicks with all my scents. I dip the end about an inch or so and then hang the wick about 5-6 feet up on a small branch. I make a complete circle around my stand about 20 yards out, using about 4-6 wicks, seems to work well for me and gives me that extra edge over their noses. Just have to use the right scent at the right time of the season.
