I am not sure where you are from, but in most states it is, and even if it isn't you should still take one for your own safety as well as others. Welcome to the wonderful world of hunting, good luck. Remember it is not as easy as what you see on TV. Real hunters work thier tails off getting a deer.

Even if it not required in your state, I would recomend taking the class anyway.Besides, you never can be too safe, and whats it gonna hurt to take the class?

Visitor,I agree even if not mandatory in your state,it is a good Idea to take one.It is called an hunters education course and many fathers who take their sons to one learn a thing or two themselves.Anytime you can learn anything about deer hunting the right way take advantage of it.It will only make you a better hunter in the long run.

In our state it's mandatory. Thank goodness. As the others have stated take the class. It won't teach you everything. But it will put you on the right track.

I don't think it is mandatory in all states but it should be. One thing to think about is that if you are interested in hunting or shooting then the course is fun. I have went twice once for myself and again with a friend who didn't want to go alone. I plan to go back when my son takes it.
