Used the 270wsm last season to harvest a large mule deer doe at 298yds. Used factory Winchester 150gr. Power Point ammo.Very accurate and a pleasure to shoot.

Higher priced ammo, limited choice of bullets and harder to find ammo in many areas. I don't see the need.

I wouldn't trade mine for anything. Shoots like a dream, good downrange energy, great ballistics. I killed a deer at 423 yds this past year. He ran 20 feet and left a great bloodtrail.

Bullets are more expensive. Only harder to find if you live in a REALLY rural area.

i have the model 700 .270, remington, and love it. i have shot a 270 mag and thought it was overkill. theres no need for that much more velocity on an already fast, flat shooting bullet. the .270 was actually invented during the vietnam war to replace the .30-.06 as our sniper riffle. the .270 has enough knock down power unless your hunting elephants or rhinos.

The 270 was developed in 1923, and released in 1925 in the Winchester Model 54.
