RE: disposal of deer remains

Do you have trash pick up? So what if they say it is not allowed. Much better than all the chemicals that other people send to the dump. I doubt that any trash pickup would take a " carcass, so you simply double bag them and put in a cardboard box to hide what it is so the trash people won' t be offended. After processing simply cut up into sections that will fit in a bag/box.

And are you sure the landowner would object? I own land that I hunt on and would kill anyone who " littered" but wouldn' t think of throwing the bones anywhere but back on the land. We have an out of the way " boneyard" . There are probably at least 20 carcasses that we throw each year, and each year you can' t hardly tell where they were when you go back the next year. Maybe there are some gulleys that he wouldn' t mind you throwing them in.

We put the deer carcass out to attract coyotes this year ,didn' t see any coyotes but did get to see a good sized bear instead . We didn' t shoot him ,just enjoyed watching .

I' m with strut. I leave the remains in an open field and try to get a critter from it. Even if the coyotes don' t come, the crows will and that can also be pretty fun. I had a good old time this year with my new .17hmr.

we just put them in garbage bags and then put them in boxes and then put them out with the trash.

Up here the coyotes never leave anything of the gut pile by next morning. They will keep coming back for several days hoping more appears but it don' t take them no time.Thats why we hate to leave a deer out overnight for any reason, they will find it in most cases.

I have a friend who takes mine to the coyotes too but if he cant I box up the scrap tissue and put it in the trash. As far as the bones, anyone try burning them!!! They burn rather well and very hot!!!! Not much left to them after that!!!

Bone burnng in the wood box, thanks for that one! Incidentally, I have left some meat on the bone, rubbed it with olive oil ,stuck some garlic in the meat, and pushed the coals off to one side ,placing the bone inside the firebox. You have to place the bone in the right position, but the meat cooks and is absolutely delicious and fun to eat. Put some tin foil on the bottom so it doesn' t come in contact with the ashes. I call this my cave man dinner. Now after dinner,I' ll throw the bones back in and cover them with coals!
