Default Attaching a ladderstand to a tree?

Anyone else find it difficult to attach their ladderstand platforms to the tree? how do you guys do it?

The ratchet is always a pain to toss around the tree......then if you go to step on the platform it wants to fall before its ratcheted, so I'm stuck standing on the ladder bent way over trying to attach it to the tree.

Some of those platforms are long too so bending over to grab to the tree is far/awkward, also those ratchets always are in bad spots like behind the tree, just a big pain, and kinda unsafe, what you suppose to bring a 24' extension ladder in the woods with you?

You might try using climbing sticks/rails and a safety beltto reach the back side after you've got it leaned against the trunk, beats an extention ladder and it's probably safer.

Let me know if you have dealt with this problem, or if its just me?
If you have, what have you done to fix the problem? just tough it out?

I have experience in the two man ladderstand. Hope this helps you. It takes at least two to raise one of the doubles. What I do is attach the center ladder support after I stand it up to the tree. The center support on mine are adjustable metal tubes, one side clamps to a ladder rung and the other attaches to the tree with a ratchet stap. It then makes it more stable to climb higher. Once at the top I start attaching other ratchet straps around the tree to the railings of the platform. Mine are only 15 ft. stands so while I'm up there I have a person on the ground with a pole saw bringing the one side of the strap around the tree for me to hook up and help keep the strap from twisting. I buy better ratchet straps from a farm supply store and toss the others that came with the stand in my tool box to use on something else. Like I said, this is for a two person stand. Good Luck

I've had similar problems. My fix was leave them up. LOL Seriously I have to deal with this soon too as I need to pull both my ladder stands down (one is a double)

I'll probably need some help but its got to be done.
